Laser skin resurfacing is a popular non-surgical treatment to effectively reduce signs of aging, discoloration, and other skin imperfections. However, traditional laser resurfacing systems can be painful and require lengthy recovery periods.  The
CoolPeel ™ procedure offers effective rejuvenation through comfortable, short sessions and requires virtually no downtime.

The CoolPeel ™ is an advanced method of ablative laser skin resurfacing. The system produces precise energy that is delivered to the skin in very short pulses, which removes the dull upper layer of the skin and stimulates new collagen production. We consider the CoolPeel ™ a non-invasive laser peel.

Many advances have been made to improve the side effects of CO2 treatments but ONLY the CoolPeel ™ can deliver a fractional ablative treatment without the downtime. There is minimal risk of hyperpigmentation, demarcation or infection.

CoolPeel ™ is a skin resurfacing treatment that can only be done using the SmartXide Tetra CO2 laser. Precise energy is delivered to the skin’s surface in order to remove the outermost layer of the skin. However, the advanced system prevents excess lingering heat, which makes the treatment more comfortable with shorter healing periods than other ablative treatments.

It is critical to inform us if you have a history of herpes (cold sores or fever blisters). We sometimes advise to avoid laser resurfacing if your skin tone is of a darker complexion due to higher risk of post procedure discoloration or recommend adjunctive treatment with hydroquinone cream. We often prefer alternate methods of treatment for brown and black skin types so please ask for a personalized consultation.

CoolPeel ™ treatments only take about 20-30 minutes to treat an area such as the face. Additional time will be needed if adding additional areas, such as neck, chest, or hands. The procedure is comfortable, and well tolerated without pain medication or numbing (while we offer ProNox ™ to decrease procedural anxiety).

Short pulses of energy are delivered to the treatment area using a Tetra CO2 laser machine. Results can be seen after one session alone, but multiple treatments, often three, are typically recommended depending on your goals and the severity of the skin concern being treated.
